Monday, June 20th, 2016 marked the first summer solstice with a full moon in 70 years. Naturally, we had to celebrate! After spending some time at the nature center for a summer solstice celebration, we made our way home to find a fabulous cumulonimbus cloud with streak lightning illuminating the entire thing!
We spotted the lightning as we drove and promptly stopped at the closest parking lot that would allow our baby squirts to see it in full view. Lucky for us, after watching for about five minutes, we found that we could see it just as clearly from our apartment.
We found ourselves a picnic table in the courtyard of our apartments and continued the watching experience as the full moon rose overhead. Overall, it was a wonderful, nature-filled summer solstice!!!
