Seed activities for Kindergarten and 3rd Grade

Fall isn’t just a time for colored leaves and pumpkins – it’s also a time for seeds! Spring and summer brought an opportunity for pollination and now the plants are showing off the fruits of their labor. Now is a great time to investigate seeds in relation to plant needs and life cycles and this episode is here to help you do just that!

In this episode, we’ll talk about seed activities for kindergarten and 3rd grade. I’ll share the standard that inspired the activity, how they relate to seed activities for kindergarten and 3rd grade, and descriptions of how to use the activity with your learners.

In this episode, I discuss the following standards connected to seed activities:

Kindergarten: K-ESS3-1: Use a model to represent the relationship between the needs of different plants and animals (including humans) and the places they live.
3rd Grade: 3-LS1-1: Develop models to describe that organisms have unique and diverse life cycles but all have in common birth, growth, reproduction, and death.
